Awesome day of work by the team, one more day starting at 7:50am. Lets keep up the great work!
Day 1 of the AMC 2016 got off to a good start for the Roskill Swim Team even with sessions being 6hrs long, we managed to pick 6 medals in total with each of them going to:
Samantha Gold in the 400 IM
Stella Gold in the 200 Breast and Bronze in the 50 Fly
Ori Gold in the 50 Free
Jesse Silver in the 200 Back
Flynn Silver in the 400 Free.
Great effort guys, Plus lots of PBs from the rest of the team.
Tomorrow we have other big day at West Wave starting at 7:50am. Bring it on!!
Roskill Swim Club Started their training early in the new year with camp starting on the 2nd January and the team of 16 smashing out 48km in 8 sessions and 6 dry lands in just 4 days and doing all Long Course.
Then Next up The team headed to Taupo for New Zealand Open Water Championships. As beautiful as the lake looked you couldn’t get away from how cold it was, sitting around 18 degrees.
We had two swimmers start Day 1 with the 10km non wetsuit race, which even has a feeding station its that long, unfourethly it was just to cold for our two swimmers to finish, but it was still an awesome effort for both Samantha and Flynn for their first time at the 10km. we Also had in day 1 our youngest member Vienna, who did the 2.5km which was her first ever ocean swim, we also had Gemma Pennycook do the 5km and finish 4th in her age group.
Then in Day 2 we had the rest of the team, Seven swimmers do the 5km non wetsuit, which almost the whole team managed to get though the cold and finish the race apart from our little guy Matt O, We had Eddie finish first for the Roskill team with Jesse close behind, then Matt S, Adam, Bridget and then Jessica.
It was a great experience for both the Coach and for all the swimmers and we hope to return next year. For now our next focus is towards AMC swim meet in 2 weeks time and then building up to our National events.
Still a huge summer ahead.
